Forget Wiarton Willie, Punxsutawney Phil, and assorted groundhogs who emerge Feb. 2 and are seen as (very unreliable) prognosticators of spring.
Signs of spring are everywhere, including yesterday’s high of PLUS!! 8 Celsius, and despite tomorrow’s forecast of freezing rain, ice pellets, snow and rain, the high of PLUS 5.

Spring and summer previews have been on the fashion calendar since December, and last week, Aritzia sallied into summer with a collection that is perfect for the tropics and even Montreal.
There were the easy, breezy dresses one absolutely needs on vacation, safari-inspired vests, all manner of wonderful white linen pants, and a darling pair of taupe linen shorts with a drawstring waist and plaid accents. Oh, and the off-shoulder shirts that are trending mightily for spring-summer 2016.

Meanwhile, Phil predicted an early spring, while Willie saw his shadow, meaning six more weeks of winter.
Elsewhere in Canada, Nova Scotia’s Shubenacadie Sam and Alberta’s Balzac Billy call for an early spring, the CBC reported, while in Manitoba, Winnipeg Willow died on Friday.
